Frequently Asked Questions
An individual therapy session lasts 50 minutes. The cost for the initial consultation is $300, and each subsequent session is $260. These fees are more affordable than the Australian Psychological Society's recommended rate for 2024-25, which is $311. If you're concerned about psychology session costs or affordability, we can discuss payment options, including reduced fees for those in financial hardship.
Yes, Medicare rebates for psychology are available. You can receive a rebate of $145.25 per session for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. To qualify, you must have a referral letter and a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP or psychiatrist. After your first six sessions, your GP will review your progress and may extend your MHCP for additional sessions. If you don’t have an MHCP, you can still access therapy, but Medicare rebates will not apply.
