About
Dr Michael Giacobbe is a senior clinical psychologist with over 15 years of experience supporting individuals through a broad range of mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, personality disorders, addictions, and stress-related conditions. In addition to his private practice, he holds leadership roles at the Royal Melbourne Hospital providing training and clinical supervision to psychologists in the network and working closely with community mental health services. He is a sessional lecturer and teaches postgraduate psychology students, contributing to the next generation of clinicians.
Michael’s therapeutic approach is grounded in evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). He is known for his ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with clients— offering a personalised, compassionate approach that supports meaningful and lasting change. He is candid, transparent, and values the individual differences of each person taking this into account in his work.
